Item-Level Details

Translated Into: La Planète captive (French)
User Summary: While away at school you have difficulty communicating with your parents at home; something terrible is going on and you must investigate.
Demian's Thoughts:

This is a very frustrating book. Not only is it quite difficult to get through, it has no particularly satisfactory ending; even the "best" endings are ambiguous. Perhaps a sequel was planned to resolve the loose ends, but if so, it was never written.

Kveto's Thoughts:

I've never been a big sci-fi fan, so I wasn't really the target audience for this one, but I've enjoyed Morris Simon books, such as Talisman of Valdegarde, before, so I gave it a go.

I couldn't really get into it. Sci-fi books in this series don't seem to age as well as the fantasy books but that might just be the medium. I felt myself getting buried a bit in some of the techno-babble but that also could have been a result of me trying to read it on-line rather than in book format.

Also of note, this seems to be the point in the series where the cover format changed, going from a pretty framed picture to a more generic full cover picture. And prior to this, each book had a different gemstone on the spine.

And the hero's name, Brim Darkstar, is too manly to be taken seriously.

utfanatic's Thoughts:

An excellent Endless Quest book. Morris Simon does a respectable job with the writing. Very creative plot, and a nice Sci-Fi twist and change of pace for the Endless Quest series. Choices are meaningful, and can lead to vastly different outcomes. Overall, nice quick read for an Endless Quest book.

Rating 1-10: 7
