These large-format, short, full-color books were designed to introduce young readers to the Fighting Fantasy concept. The books feature a simplified version of the game system in which there is only one attribute (Skill) which is used both for combat resolution and for keeping track of health. Readers are also asked to keep track of their supply of gold. Unlike the main Fighting Fantasy books, these adventures form a continuous storyline in which Prince (later King) Goldhawk goes on various fantasy adventures. The first two books were published with realistic cover paintings in the United Kingdom and more cartoony cover illustrations in the United States; the last two titles never saw an American release.
