User Summary: You are the child of an apothecary in China at the time of the Song Dynasty. Your parents want you to follow in their footsteps and lead a simple life, but you want to become a kung fu master and have adventures.
Guillermo's Thoughts:

The title here can be a little deceiving since you do not play a martial arts master (try Duel of the Masters in the Endless Quest series if you are looking for that), and seldom do you get to use any kung fu. Instead, your character is the typical helpless child you would get to play in a Choose Your Own Adventure book. There is also not much in the way of a unified plot; the adventures and events vary widely depending on the path you choose to take, with a few allowing you to participate in some events of the classic Chinese novel Water Margin. In spite of all this, I found Kung Fu Masters to be one of the best gamebooks I've read in a long time. The story never gets boring and there are many interesting choices to make. Reaching a successful ending will also require the player to engage in careful thinking. Two thumbs up!
