Guillermo's Thoughts:

I enjoyed this first entry in the series quite a bit. The authors are clearly familiar with earlier gamebook series, and as a result they were able to introduce choices whose outcomes are not too predictable. The different paths are also mutually coherent, so if you dread gamebooks consisting of disjointed storylines (I don't) you will feel at home with this one. The first part of the book can be a bit hard to get into since it is designed so that a single choice will lead to an abrupt failure ending. Things, however, start getting more diverse and interactive later on, leading to a variety of interesting conclusions. Overall, I found this to be an excellent gamebook, though it is violent enough that I would not recommend it for anyone under 10.
