Despite the inclusion of the word "magazine" in the series title, these volumes are in the format of standard paperback books. Each issue contains a novella, a full-color comic and a mini-gamebook. In the gamebook segment of each book, the reader must keep track of two attributes (force and dexterity) along with life points. All of these come into play during combat, which occurs from time to time. A series of computer games was released which tied in with the four magazine issues.
