These simple gamebooks are printed in a large, full-color format. They are aimed at young children and often take advantage of their attractive layout to include visual puzzles. The books have a fairly confusing publishing history, since they have been published under a number of different series titles, with some of the books not even having a clearly designated series. In the United States, they can be found as part of the Choose-Your-Challenge Gamebooks or Pick Your Peril series, with at least one book having an alternate American title. In the United Kingdom, in addition to being known as the Which Way? books, they are sometimes called the Walker Gamebooks or the Choose-Your-Way series, and several were reissued in 2008 as the Puzzle Master series. To make matters even more confusing, some titles were published in translated editions prior to being published in English. Other books featuring picture puzzles but no interactive story elements were also printed using the same basic format, but they are not listed here.
