Standard puzzles found in activity books (such as mazes, connect-the-dots, word searches, etc.) have often found their way into gamebooks. In some cases, these puzzles are the primary reason for a series' existence; in others, only occasional puzzles are used to make the gameplay a little more challenging. Sometimes, puzzles are completely superfluous to the plot but exist simply to add a little novelty.
