“En las cenizas” (In the Ashes) is a rather atypical gamebook. Divided into different battle scenarios set on hexagonal grids, the player controls a character who moves through these grids to achieve an objective, which typically involves defeating enemies. Although it features a complex game system, it only requires a pencil to play. The player uses it to mark the position and movement of the character and their adversaries on the book's pages for each scenario. This almost turns it into a board game in the form of a book.
