| Jordashebasics's Thoughts: | You and your friends have a series of adventures on Halloween night, encountering various monsters, ghosts, and other horrors. The title is very misleading. There is a living mask, but it never attacks. It has exactly one ending. The stories are very hit-and-miss. Some of the paths involve werewolves, vampires and witches, and their appeal may depend on your interests. There are occasionally a few satisfying endings, involving vampire slayers, discovering that a bunch of your teachers are witches, and the titular living mask. The book would be much better served with a different title. It took a while to figure out that the book is mostly just an assortment of Halloween adventures. There is no central focus. Once you know that, it probably is a bit more enjoyable. |
