This is a very simple start to the series, with choices that aren't really as meaningful as in later titles like Little Panda gets Lost.
Marcia Leonard was a good choice to be the author of the books in the Your First Adventure series, in my view. Her simple stories bloom from the inherent excitement of the Choose Your Own Adventure game system very well and are sure to excite pre-readers, as well as some who are older than that.
Imagine yourself as a little owl who spots a blue balloon in the air one day and decides to go up after it in a large maple tree, and you'll be off on this sweet adventure story that allows you to choose exactly how you'll go about the task of catching up to the floating balloon. Little Owl Leaves the Nest is a good story that is perfect for its age group, but with the satisfying twist of the interactive choices that make the book rise above most of its peers.
