Fireguard's Thoughts: |
All in all, this is one of the better Worlds of Power books even though it suffers the same problem as other books in the series of the middle portion of the story being glossed over to fit everything in. It also includes a number of cheesy things the game didn't have to make the book appeal to young boys of the late 80's/early 90's like ninjas, pizza and bionic gizmos besides grappling hooks. Considering how disjointed the story of the original game was, though, the author did a commendable job of solidifying it into something readable. It also introduces a young boy presumably for the reader to identify with, but he doesn't overstay his welcome like some in the series, and as a result I remember Tiger more fondly than Tim, Matt or whatever that guy's name was in Infiltrator. This is also the only Worlds of Power book I can remember where characters actually died once in a while. It is and will always be a book aimed at kids, but for that kind of thing, Bionic Commando is a solid read. |
