Joonseok's Thoughts:

This is Dane's fourth gamebook. In each of his books, he has tried different methods of gameplay (hint based, dice rolling etc.) and his experience and know how has culminated into the best science fiction gamebook of all time.

Dane is a master storyteller, and each section is filled with strong narrative that builds up to the main plot. Hints dropped all have their meanings revealed later in the book. My mind was blown when a connection was revealed to a previous book in a way that made much sense. None of the characters are stereotypical or throw away and all of them have believable motives and are described in depth. I developed a strong attachment to many of them during the course of the story. Clocking at 1010 sections, this is a very long adventure across space but I was glued to the book throughout the journey. Note taking and mapping are highly recommended. The book mixes just the right amount of open-world exploration and main/side quests. Since The Mystery of Dracula, Dane has incorporated challenging puzzles into the gameplay. The only minor issue I had was that some of the puzzles in Voyage Across the Galaxy are difficult to solve. Providing hints or penalizing the player for not solving instead of making the puzzle mandatory to progress could be considered for future books. All in all, this book is a masterpiece and Dane has set a new standard for complex story driven gamebooks. I cannot wait to read more of his work in the future.
