Joonseok's Thoughts: |
This is the third book from the author that I have read. The Ghosts of Craven Manor is a gamebook that targets a mature audience involving note taking and puzzle solving, making it one of the most challenging and at the same time rewarding gamebooks. The Shadowborn Trials targets a younger audience and is not as challenging, allowing a novice gamebook reader to ease into the experience. Clocking at 1008 sections, The Shadowborn Trials is not a short book by any means, and it took me days to complete the adventure. Unlike the majority of gamebooks where the protagonist acts alone for the most part, you control a team in The Shadowborn Trials and need to think about balancing the team members' skillsets. The book also serves as a great prequel to the non-interactive novel, The Hermacles Divide: The Coming of the Dhufal. This is another strong entry from the author. |
