These four fantasy gamebooks cast the reader as Fire*Wolf, a barbarian with both fighting and (after a little while) magical talents. The books feature a continuing storyline in which character stats are carried from book to book, and the game system they use is fairly typical. Characters have seven attributes (Strength, Speed, Stamina, Courage, Luck, Charm and Attraction) which are rolled randomly; the sum of these attributes determines Life Points. There are also Power points for casting spells and Skill points for measuring experience. Combat is resolved, as usual, by lots of dice-rolling. Somewhat unusually, inventory gathering is not a large part of gameplay. Also interesting is the inclusion of hints in the backs of the later books, printed backwards to prevent accidental reading.
