This book is a sequel to Invaders of the Planet Earth, though it stands on its own quite well. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it quite as much as its predecessor. While I did like the fact that many of the paths through the book are lengthy and lead to satisfying conclusions, the basic scenario of the book wasn't as gripping as that of Brightfield's previous adventure. There are some outlandish creatures and interesting situations on display here, but the overall experience is somehow lacking something. It wouldn't surprise me if this adventure was written in a bit of a hurry. This is still well above average for a science fiction adventure in this series, but it's not as good as it might have been. |
