This Give Yourself Goosebumps spin-off for the most part features more complex adventures than its parent series. The first book is the most involved, featuring nearly as many sections as one of R. L. Stine's earlier Hark books and requiring the reader to roll dice and keep track of inventory. All of the subsequent books returned to the more traditional format of one section per page, but several continued to rely on inventory selection. The fifth book offers the reader the choice of being either a hunter or spellcaster and choosing spells or equipment from lists, much like the Wizards, Warriors & You series, while the final book is unusual in that it contains four unrelated stories, and a "lucky number" picked at the beginning determines which one unfolds. Only the sixth book is completely without special features, making one wonder why it was included in this series rather than the main one.
