These fantasy gamebooks, aimed at ages 8-12, follow the adventures of anthropomorphic animals living in Woodland Forest. They feature a game system unique to this setting -- in place of the standard-issue combat system, there is a "fleeing/chasing" system that simulates running from predators or (in rare cases) catching other characters. This distinctive feature is accompanied by some more traditional inventory management plus a single Energy attribute used mainly for measuring the player's ability to continue running. Randomization (used both in fleeing/chasing and to cause random story branches) is accomplished either with a six-sided die or with the dice rolls printed at the bottoms of the book's pages.
