Guillermo's Thoughts: |
Unlike the vast majority of titles in the series, this book includes only two adventures instead of three. This means that the reader will spend a bit more time with each one, but the end result is far from satisfying. The book lacks the level of strategy I loved in a few other military-themed books in the series (such as Life as a Knight or Life as a Ninja). I didn't feel like anything that happened depended on my reasoned decision-making, and I therefore couldn't have cared less about which ending I reached. The book presents a few historical tidbits which may prove interesting (especially to the children it is aimed at), but since the gameplay is so uninvolving, one wonders if they wouldn't be better served by learning from a regular book and not bothering with the section-hopping involved here. Disappointing. |
