|User Summary:||You must infiltrate a city ruled by an evil tyrant and slay him in order to free the city's people from his scourge.|
This adventure, which was was intended to introduce newcomers into role-playing, was released in Spain at about the same time as the second edition of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. It includes a game system that draws inspiration from both Fighting Fantasy and Lone Wolf: a simple attribute and combat system is combined with a list of skills to choose from. The setting is very generic D&D-style fantasy.
Overall, this is a very good adventure. It allows you to customize your character with a wide array of skills, weapons, and armour. The adventure offers opportunities to use practically all the skills, meaning that it is interesting to replay it with different combinations of abilities. Since there are many combats, it is also interesting to try different combinations of weapons and armour. The city setting is not nearly as detailed as that of City of Thieves or Kharé: Cityport of Traps, but it still provides several entertaining challenges. The difficulty level is also high enough to keep you playing several times before you reach the successful ending. Krieghad did not revolutionize the world of gamebooks, but it still is better than a lot of other introductory solo adventures. Definitely recommended.
