Guillermo's Thoughts: |
This is an interactive adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes story "The Adventure of the Abbey Grange" by Arthur Conan Doyle. Unfortunately, it is a terrible gamebook. For starters, the writing is very disjointed and confusing. It is very difficult to understand why the player character wants to keep investigating the case, and the story feels like pointless wandering a lot of the time. As for gameplay, the book is designed so that the challenge is to reach an ending similar to that of the original Holmes story. However, since the outcomes of most choices are quite random, the reader gets little sense of achievement from achieving the ideal ending. Overall, this is definitely one to avoid. |
