Guillermo's Thoughts: |
At 63 pages, this is shorter than an American Choose Your Own Adventure book, but the author manages to cram in a lot of material nonetheless. Unlike Goal-Minded in the Choose Your Path Sports Books series, this book focuses on tactical decisions on the soccer field instead of the protagonist's life challenges. Fans of Argentinian football will probably be disappointed, since the story does not include any of the real-life Argentinian soccer clubs (fictional clubs are used instead). Still, real-life stars Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi make an appearance in one of the endings. This is quite an enjoyable book, including many aspects related to the actual play of the game (in one of the paths the reader even gets to switch from attacker to goalkeeper). The endings cover a wide array of possible outcomes, with some even veering into horror or science fiction. Gameplay results always derive logically from the reader's choices. Overall, this a quite a good read. Recommended. |
