Guillermo's Thoughts: |
This adventure has a sci-fi setting, but is written in a film-noir style (not unlike Have Your Own Extra-Terrestrial Adventure by Douglas Hill). It uses no rules except for the scoring system. It involves choosing sections to read and finding clues. There are no actual endings to the story; the player can choose to keep reading as long as he or she likes (the more sections the player reads, however, the lower her or his score will be at the end). Gameplay therefore resembles a game of Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective more than an actual gamebook. Given the fact that the actual solution to the mystery was (to my knowledge) never published, reading it nowadays can feel like a futile exercise. Tracking this down isn't really worth spending a lot of time or money. |
