Dtar's Thoughts:

I think that the German infantry experience at Stalingrad and the USA airborne experience at the Bulge both did a good job of trying to give a sense of those very difficult circumstances. However, what I enjoyed most was the Navy fighter plane story. I think it did a good job of showing the kind of quick decisions that had to be made and the results that were likely. I particularly liked the fact that they included the incident where an F4U made a successful ramming attack on an enemy fighter when the machine guns had jammed. Using real events that happened to real people gives the book added meaning for most any reader.
