Fireguard's Thoughts: |
Find Your Fate - G. I. Joe goes out with a whimper rather than a bang with this middling entry. I can't understand why Bombshell's not in the stockade awaiting his dishonorable discharge when the story begins. On the first page he attacks the mess cook for having lumpy mashed potatoes! While I welcome attempts by the series to include a protagonist whose special skill isn't thinking on his feet, having one who's just as happy to fight his own teammates as terrorists isn't what I had in mind. Aside from an unappealing main character, the book suffers from bland settings and a vaguely defined threat. I never got much of an idea what the power of the pyramids would let COBRA do. Plus it's hampered by including Serpentor, a villain super-goofy even for the 1980's. This book doesn't deserve your time. Go read Operation: Poison Dart instead. |
