Enemy of ChaosUser Comments
Leila Johnston's "Enemy of Chaos" is rightfully considered to be one of the worst gamebooks of all time, and it must be acknowledged that the book was conceived with the intention of openly mocking the interactive format in the most mean-spirited way possible. This book - thankfully, Johnston's only interactive work to date - is created in the despicable vein of Seltzer-Friedberg by belittling existing works and talking down to readers in such a way that even the eternally arrogant R.A. Montgomery might shudder at. It ISN'T a work of parody, poking fun or making light of historic gamebooks; this book was created with the poorest of intentions and the hip, snide snarkiness that thinly disguises Johnston's utter contempt for interactive storytelling and its landmark titles. Avoid this book at all costs; it's a dark blot which aims to do nothing more than desecrate, profane and spread hate for the art form, and it'll leave you disgusted, disappointed and desperately unhappy if you do decide to waste your energy on it.
