These school-market commercial successes attempted to capture the action, charm, humor and semi-dramatic appeal of the Kim Possible series during its initial run. The result? An adequately faithfully written yet conceptually somewhat uninspired tie-in which tends to fall desperately short of what it could have been. Most of my own criticism is directed at the books' short length of 80 pages; to first select a villain and then have less than 20 pages to work through a minimally interactive mini-adventure of little broader consequence, it's neither all that great nor all that disappointing if you know what to expect going into it. Apart from the short length, the lack of lasting value to these books, apart from serving as a sort of collectible for fans of the series, makes these a hard sell. Still, the charm of the original series is preserved somewhat, and I readily believe the publishers didn't have just the worst of intentions when throwing these little books together. Even so, I suggest most readers pick a different gamebook series since these ones don't measure up to what they set out to do.
