Braxus's Thoughts:

This book is a decent, typical fantasy adventure. You are finding your way towards a sorceress' lair and must fight a number of fantasy encounters to get there (seriously, break the mould please, Fighting Fantasy)! It's pretty good in some ways, since there are many important encounters littered throughout the book which lead to more important encounters, meaning there's one true path through the book which is not too hard to find but will take a good number of attempts - I always like that.

It has a number of weaknesses though, as ever. The book tends to lose sight of the original plotline, and you completely forget what you were doing in the first place during your adventure; it just breaks down into a bunch of encounters. The storyline is horribly thin and the idea of you, the RULER of a city going off on your own is ridiculous - why not take some men? The author tends to sudden death you too unless you go exactly where he wants you to - there is only an illusion of unlinearity, but really there's not a great deal of freedom.

Overall, basically a very typical FF adventure.
