Guillermo's Thoughts: |
Copies of the final entry in the Storytrails series are extremely difficult to find (at least at reasonable prices). Frustrated by my lack of success at finding an affordable copy, I ended up borrowing the book from a library. Despite the book being almost three decades old when I finally could get my hands on it, it looked like it had never been read (something which attests the unfortunate obscurity of this excellent series). Unfortunately, this book, which deals with the legend of the Australian bunyip, is not one of the strongest entries in the Storytrails line. While I found the story slightly more engaging than in the previous title in the series, in the end it feels as if all the reader does is wander from place to place while witnessing a predesigned and fixed series of events. There is not much to recommend in terms of gameplay, either; reaching the successful ending is not too hard, and one does not get much of a sense of achievement in the process. Don't go out of your way to read this one -- there are many titles in the series which are way better. |
