LC Cataloging in Publication Summary: | The reader, as Robin the minstrel, follows a path of perils through the Forgotten Forest, making decisions which determine whether he will end up a hero or a prisoner of thieves. |
Demian's Thoughts: |
This isn't quite as good as the previous book, but it is still entertaining and fairly clever; the many, many uses of the word "ring" in this book must have taken some time to think up. I can't quite figure out the purpose of all the alliteration present here, though.... |
Fireguard's Thoughts: |
The Magician's Ring is easily my favorite book in this series. While there are times I like to have a centralized story in a gamebook, generally I like to be able to have a different experience every time I play. And boy, is The Magician's Ring the book for that. Sometimes bad endings seemed a bit arbitrary, but on the whole the book provides interesting and engrossing encounters with each choice. I was particularly surprised at just how many kinds of rings Mevar could get his powers from. I highly recommend this book. 8/10 |
