ntar's Thoughts: |
If you aren't familiar with the Rollercoaster Tycoon computer game, this book may be less enjoyable. However, if you are, you'll find that this book reads like the game is played, which impressed me. The premise involves an inheritance of money which allows a sister/brother to open up their own amusement park. You get to choose which person you will play as your first choice. You face many decisions, like which rides to build first, how to advertise, what to design next, and other, realistic decisions for an amusement park owner (greatly simplified from reality, but it's similar to the game in that account). The numerous references to the character you don't choose at the beginning of the book are a nice touch, as well as some paths which tie the two back together. The endings don't seem so far-fetched based on your decisions, which doesn't make this is a very challenging book, but ultimately I found it to be a good read as a fan of the computer game. |
