knifebat's Thoughts: |
Another CYOA style book for adults, gotta dig it! Is it funny? I'm not sure if I'd call it hysterical, but I do like how it's pessimistic. That is the appeal here, you have a cynical main character that is trying to be in the holiday spirit even though he's really not into it. As you can imagine from a Choose Your Own Misery book lots of bad things happen to the main character. I wouldn't say that makes it hilarious but there were many times where I cringed. I found myself deliberately choosing paths that I thought would be worse. The thing I noticed about this book is that the choices are very close to each other. So it's like if you want to do this go to page 43, if you want to do something else go to page 45 rather than like page 108. Now this makes it so much easier to explore the book. |
