Recently, I discussed these books with a fellow collector.

He said, in retrospect, these gamebooks were obviously suited for young readers. He's right, even too much right.

Although I was only 12 or 13 when I first read Nome in codice: Giona, I clearly remember I didn't like it; it seemed to me too silly and un-realistic.

What I particularly disliked was the inconsistency between my choices and the outcomes. Very often I found that my choice led to an outcome totally (and absolutely) unexpected. It was really frustrating.

Moreover, the behavior, nature and goals of the NPC varied from ending to ending. Maybe the authors tried to provide the reader with a fully diverse range of stories in the same book, but I can't say they succeeded.
