It's really a shame that the authors of this mini series never wrote a sequel to Oltre l'Incubo!!

The game mechanics are, in my opinion, a state-of-the-art for a gamebook and the story is simply SUPERB!

While the setting doesn't have any link with the Cthulhu mythos, that same feeling of unspeakable fear you can get when reading Lovecraft's works permeates the whole series!

It's mature and it's scary and the high playability of the books does not sacrifice the freedom for the reader to explore and take several routes to the main goals, to the extent of finding some ancient artifacts and weapons to improve your stats.

Moreover, this Italian translation is really well written.

I always preferred the first book, for it was more claustrophobic and umbratile, but the second is a masterpiece as well, with more NPC, more dialogs and a rocambolesque run against time.
