These simple horror gamebooks were released as part of the glut of juvenile horror fiction released in the mid-nineties as the result of the phenomenal success of the Goosebumps books by R. L. Stine. The only feature which makes them slightly unusual is that each book starts by describing its cast of characters and providing some background information on the plot, similar to the Pick Your Own Dream Date series. Unfortunately, this introductory material is generally redundant and adds little or nothing to the adventure that follows.
