This series of books, written by a former military officer, allow the reader to participate in military operations, learning about the realities of combat in the process. The books have no game system, but they do make use of dice rolls from time to time. The interactive portion of each book is supplemented by background information, and blank flowcharts are provided so readers can record their paths through the book for future reference. The books were originally released as large trade paperbacks, but a special smaller version of the first book was included as a bonus with a collection of computer war games released by Strategic Simulations, Inc. The books have no official series title; the title used here is purely descriptive.
