Scrumptious's Thoughts: |
Your challenge is to sail a yacht around the world with a crew of five other teenagers. If you make it before the deadline, you'll share a prize of $1,000,000! This book is the only one in the series that features a team made up solely of children. This means you can't automatically trust them as experts because they all have flaws: one is too reckless, another hates taking advice, etc. Knowing when to accept their judgments and when to voice your opposition will be a challenge. There are a few oddities stemming from having only one path to ultimate success. Your first choice has you giving advice to a seasick teammate. Choose wrong and he drowns. Talk about small actions having major consequences! Another choice requires you to pick the right knot for a certain purpose. Choose right and the story moves on without a problem. One of the wrong choices leads to a capsizing event. This is especially bizarre because one of your teammates immediately corrects you, and you retie the knot properly. Making even one tiny mistake gives you bad karma, I guess. Overall, this is an exciting adventure. Too bad the boat seems cursed with constant problems and deadly encounters. |
