Another in the second series, which continues to be good.
I think Bigby is a legendary character in D&D lore. In this book, you get to play his apprentice, who is desperately trying to save his life. You get word from your master's familiar, a pseudo-dragon, that your master has been cursed by his enemy, Iuz, and has hidden himself in his wizard's tower apparently dying. You must find your master, while at the same time repelling the zombies of Iuz who are invading the tower to kill Bigby in his weakened state.
The novel does a good job of turning the traditional dungeon crawl on its head. Instead of exploring the unknown, you are searching your own home, which is filled with magical defenses and invaders. It manages to feel fresh and original while providing some fun challenges.
