This one follows the established Dragontales format quite closely. As it is a white cover, odd numbered book you play a female character, so the romance angle is present. In this book, you play Princess Sarah who rides a fantastic Black Beauty-like horse named Stardust. Your father's kingdom gets taken over by an evil Ogre king. But the King likes to gamble, so he challenges you to a race to bring back a magic flower in three days. If you can get over the premise, it's a fun book. There are three clear paths with distinct adventures (and different love interests for each) leading to lots of replayability. And the writing and choices are a bit tighter than earlier adventures. While the romance angle is there, you also have a strong sense of responsibility (your kingdom is riding on your shoulders). The female protagonist books in this series remind me more of HeartQuest books than Endless Quest books. |
