Kveto's Thoughts: |
After enjoying the first book of the series, I decided to give this one a try. It is also written by Rabbi Roseman, who appears to have authored all of the series. In this book, you play a Russian-Jewish young man from Minsk who gets a letter of invitation to NY. It takes place around the start of the 20th century, but remains ambiguous so as to be able to incorporate different historical events. I found this one less interesting than The Cardinal's Snuffbox as it lacks the adventure options from that book and feels more limited in scope. Most of the choices involve choosing different professions or different ideologies (capitalist vs socialist). Some choices focus on things such as whether to ask your employees to work on shabat. It has a lot of options and endings, some positive and some negative. Overall, there is a lot to explore even if the "new world immigrant" angle feels a bit repetitive. |
