| Demian's Thoughts: |
This wasn't quite what I expected; after the anarchy of the last book, this one has quite a bit more focus. That's not to say that there aren't random narrator tangents and general silliness, but the plot actually has a slightly serious side to it. It's still weird, but there seems to be a real story arc forming. While I didn't laugh as often as last time, I was generally more engaged. Unfortunately, from a gamebook perspective, there's practically nothing of note here; there are no branches to the story, and the most unusual thing on display is a sequence where the adventures of two pairs of characters play out simultaneously in parallel comic strips. Despite this mild disappointment, I enjoyed the adventure and look forward to seeing where the series turns next.... |
