Jordashebasics's Thoughts:

Surprisingly, I disagree with the other review here.

I actually found this one of the better books from late in the series. Focus is strong, choices actually have reasonable consequences. It's a pretty dark book, though. A number of deaths, and a surprising amount of tension.

The title is a bit silly though. I put off reading this because I kept thinking of stuff like Prisoner of the Ant People, and how wacky that one was.

It's true that there is only one truly good ending, but if you divide the endings in terms of "do you survive?" then there are plenty more.

Mostly, a good read.

stonemason's Thoughts:

This book makes use of the same Aunt Lily character as book #140 (Horror House). What I found strange, though, is that both books have the same illustrator, and yet the Aunt Lily character in this book looks very different than the one in (Horror House. Here, she's a blonde rather than a brunette and has longer hair! Maybe she bleached it...

Aunt Lily aside, this is an average adventure in the series. It's well written, but death is usually somewhat arbitrary -- there are two "halves" to the book, one for each option of the first choice, but it is impossible to win in one "half." I typically like adventures where the good and bad options make sense logically, if you think about them deeply enough. It's also somewhat dated, since it refers to Hurricane Andrew as if it were a very recent occurance.
