Demian's Thoughts:

This is a pretty pointless book, really; you wander around fighting familiar AD&D foes by rolling 2d6 over and over, and eventually you find the treasure and it's over. There's no plot, next to no strategy, no sense of discovery (since the whole map is laid out from the beginning), and a few ambiguous rules. I guess I had a little bit of fun along the way, but there just isn't much to this game. A good round of the classic Dungeon board game would be a much more satisfying way to spend the evening if you're in the mood for this sort of thing.

My High Score - 75 (may my poor wizard rest in peace)

Kveto's Thoughts:

This was probably an interesting but unsuccessful attempt to interest young kids in D&D role playing games. It is basically a board game, with a gridded map that leads to different monsters. I noticed that it tends toward the D&D-created monsters, like the beholder, the umber hulk, the ettin, rather than the more mythological monsters. The map includes pictures of the monsters in each room, taking away any sense of discovery.

About half of the pages are text pieces, which probably disappointed those who wanted to colour. But it is called a colouring album, which I suppose sounds more mature than colouring book.

The illustrations are nice but overly detailed, which doesn't tend to lend itself to productive staying-inside-the-lines colouring.
