Shadeheart's Thoughts: |
[Rating: 1/10] Gillian Clements' "Into the Under World" is one of those "gamebooks" that could be more aptly classified as an interactive puzzle book than anything - what you see is what you get. From my encounter with the title, the book appears to be unremarkable in most respects; to me, it seems like the creation of a publishing house commission of an in-house resident writer and illustrator. While that isn't necessarily a bad thing in any sense, I did get the sense that this puzzle-and-picture book had a relatively weak shelf life, underwhelming challenges and a lack of innovation in the interactivity itself. Again, this isn't a bad book by any means... just a rather unremarkable and short-lived experience that is unlikely to satisfyingly impress a sustainable audience or retain its readers for many satisfying revisits. With a very narrow target audience and a pretty mediocre overall experience in the bigger picture, this one's generally not recommended. ^^ (Mysteriously disappears into the shadows.) |
