This book is fairly linear: most options either lead to immediate death or loop quickly back into the main storyline. There were also a few minor continuity errors on some paths: in one case, another character seemingly forgets having met you earlier the same day. The story itself doesn't necessarily have many surprises either, being a fairly traditional fantasy adventure. That being said, it was entertaining and both Zach ("you") and Max (the sidekick you meet) are likeable. This would be a good introduction to fantasy gamebooks for a kid who hasn't picked one up before. |
