Dave_Wiener's Thoughts:

This book is the final tome in the Give Yourself Goosebumps series, and like much of that series lacks internal consistency. The book splits into three different paths, each giving three different reasons as to how you lost your memories. As internal consistency within paths is the most important feature of gamebooks I do appreciate that the three different paths are mostly consistent with themselves, and that the endings feature a recurring theme in waking up from the nightmare. Regretfully they are not consistent with each other. The most attention is paid to the path featured on the cover, involving werewolves. The others almost appear as an afterthought. The book is surprisingly dark and violent, but the amount of trite and overused puns featured in the text not only diffuses that tension but has also given me psychic damage. Additionally, the moon in the book is unrealistic in that it features three straight nights in which the moon is full. I hear Neil Degrasse Tyson knocking at the door. Like most of the series this isn’t great literature, but it is an adequate ending to such a long-running gamebook series. If you’ve made it this far into the series you might as well see how it all ends.
