stonemason's Thoughts: |
This is a good book, although it has its flaws. On the positive side, it is internally consistent, has lots of action, and is well-written. It's written in the third person, so you have to control what Simon and Thea do rather than participating in the mystery yourself. I didn't find that to be too much of a problem, though, but others might think differently. Also, there are only two successful endings (one is more informative than the other), and the paths to reach them are somewhat arbitrary. This makes the book more challenging, but this might not necessarily be a good thing. Finally, the author uses the word "damn" on page 6 -- I was a bit surprised, considering this is a children's book! |
