Item - The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: The Hero's Quest

This audio adaptation of the most famous Fighting Fantasy gamebook was surprisingly effective in capturing the spirit of the original series. The action started from the first chapter and continued at a rapid pace throughout. Amidst the combat and other dangers of the warlock's maze there was somehow time get to know the characters of both the heroes and the warlock Zagor (though not to learn much of their backstories). Although the drama itself was not interactive, choices were a recurring theme, linking the adaptation back to the source material. By the time the story was over, I was eager to get my hands on the gamebook and try my own hand at facing Zagor.
